Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick insists he will not risk Lamine Yamal if he is not 100 percent fit.
Yamal has been struggling with an ankle injury since the international break. And missed Barcelona’s 1-0 defeat to Real Sociedad before withdrawing from Spain’s squad for the recent UEFA Nations League.
Flick has revealed that the 17-year-old Euro 2024 winner will miss another La Liga game at Celta Vigo on Saturday, November 23.
“Lamine Yamal will not play against Celta Vigo. We will not take any risks with him and he will only come back when he is 100 per cent fit,” Flick said ahead of the game.
Flick would not be draw on a potential replacement for Yama. After using Fermin Lopez on the right flank to limit effect at Real Sociedad.
“It could be Raphinha, it could be Dani (Olmo), Fermin, Pablo (Torre) or Pau (Victor). We have different options,” added the coach.
Flick also said Gavi has fit enough to start after a long-term injury and a handful of substitute appearances on his way back to fitness.
This season, Yamal has continued his excellent form. Scoring 6 goals and providing 8 assists in 16 appearances in all competitions.
